Dr. Joe Peters has had a dual-track career in Music and AV-IT at the National University of Singapore. Both careers are now merged into services and research (Sonic Asia Music Consultants) for Integrated Music Education. And in another branch of music, he is the Director at Tremolo-Rondalla Private Limited, where he has driven research and development into a specialized genre of tremolo rondalla music with his Heuristic Group Music Pedagogy (HGMP).
He has a Masters in Music from the University of the Philippines and a Ph.D from the University of Western Australia. He is known for “Sonic Orders in ASEAN Musics” - a field-to-lab ethnomusicology project that has produced two book volumes and 10 CDs providing a current over-view of what remains of the audioscapes in Southeast Asia. Other major projects include the ASEAN Korea Traditional Orchestra (AKTO) where he served as the inaugural Co-Chairman between 2008-2011. Currently, he serves as Advisor to C-ASEAN Consonant, an inter-cultural performance project under the conglomerate - Thai Beverage. He also serves as Liaison Officer for the International Council for Traditional Music (ICTM), the UNESCO arm for ethnomusicology.
